Started in 2016, the free family day returns as Peterborough STEM Festival is back on October 7th, 2023, taking place at the Kingsgate Conference Centre.
The fifth annual event returns after a few years away due to the pandemic, and was created by the team behind Digital People in Peterborough as a fascinating and engaging way to introduce more children, particular girls, into considering STEM subjects.
I’m happy to admit I’m biased, having been the co-founder of DPiP, and having been involved with Peterborough STEM Fest since it was originally founded by Tia, and is now headed up by my partner, Liz. Two inspirational people who have created, and continue to organise amazing events at a scale which frankly boggle my mind. Especially considering thousands of people turn up each time to enjoy all of the interactive displays and demos, notable speakers, and so much more (for anyone in New Zealand, Tia has since created Tauranga STEM Festival)
As a volunteer, and a parent, I can heartily recommend it to anyone with kids or teens. Just be prepared to learn as an adult as well. Even after helping behind the scenes, I still learn new and fascinating info every year.
